Wants to Join the Austin Tribe

Dear Ed,

I just became aware of you and TTP, pretty much through coincidence, although I don't really believe that such occurrences are really random.

I have perused the TT site, not exhaustively, but enough to know that I could really benefit from belonging to a local tribe. I see that you have not been quite as active in your teaching lately, as least as far as I can determine. The purpose of my inquiry is to find out if I can join a local Austin TT group if one is still active...and also to find out if I can get some training.

I am not a professional trader, just someone who would like to learn to trade successfully. I am also committed to trying to live on a path of right behavior. I have had a few mentors along the way, and breathe work is something I find very powerful and useful. I also know about the concept of the hotseat, although I have never been in a group that uses that specific approach. I know enough to clearly see the potential benefits of being in a tribe.

I have always been the ultimate DIM kind of guy. In recent years I've been trying to find a tribe where I can truly belong. I view my failure to connect in this way as one of my major life challenges. So...the concept of tribe is something that has been on my mind...something that I am still trying to figure out for myself.

I also have issues around trading that I need to work on, the most obvious one being learning to control risk. I am trying to find my own trading style and system that works for me. I do have some general concept of what that is...but I do not feel well schooled, even though I've read a great deal.

I won't go on and on...just get back to me if you can.

Thanks,
Please see the Tribe Directory page for information on joining the Austin Tribe.

Wants Recommendations

Dear Ed,

1. Not being a "technical" guy, but wanting to learn more about it vs. looking at the "fundamentals", would a subscription to and subsequent study of Dorsey Wright be a good place to start? Is there a better place to start in your opinion?

2. Would a subscription to the Gartman Letter and daily reading thereof be advisable? What I've read of Dennis Gartman I like.

Thank you.

Wants an Ad Hoc Meeting

Dear Tribe,

I hope you are doing good and meeting your goals. [Name] and me have been thinking about organizing a tribe meeting in [City] in January, the plan is to do it the same weekend of the AlphaMetrix Event there which is January 25th-27th, that way we can do some networking and meet new managers or new investors. I also recommend the event to any of you who is trying to attract capital, you get to know the industry from the manager as well as from the investor point of view.

The initial idea is to hold the meeting either Wednesday before the event or Saturday afterwards in some [City] Hotel, we are trying to get some feedback from you to see if there is interest, once we get that we can start trying to come up with a more formal plan, please let me know if I am missing somebody in this email that can be interested.

Best regards.

OK.

Friendly Trend

Thank you Mr. Seykota for your prompt and thoughtful response.

The inter-sentence capitalizations are gone and the quote (tweet) now reads: "The trend is your friend until the end when it bends" $$ "I recall using the phrase, I don't know if it's original to me."

Must be wonderful living near South Lake Tahoe. I miss skiing and skiing South Lake Tahoe area slopes specifically.

God Bless.

Regards,

I thought you might like to know that the search function on your website may not be working correct. I have tried to search from two different computers and I get the following message.

BTW hope you have a great Christmas and enjoy some time with family and friends.

I wonder if you can tell me your exact keystrokes, from which location on which page.
