London Tribe Meeting Report:
Moving Through Embarrassment
Hi Ed,
I hold the first meeting for the City of London Tribe. We have 5 attendees.
The leader of the London tribe, [Name], assists me in learning how to lead a Tribe and run the Hot Seat process.
We begin with a check in and run through 'Tell me what you are
thinking', 'Tell me how you feel', 'Show me how you feel' process.
I elect to take the first Hot Seat. After my first Tribe meeting in
August, I notice I regularly argue with my partner. We barely argue for
most of the year prior to this meeting.
I take the Hot Seat, I feel tense all over my body, I go through
several forms. My memory of the whole process isn't very good, but one
particular moment stands out.
I have a feeling of a ball moving from the bottom of my esophagus up to
my throat. I notice this feeling from my first Tribe meeting. I notice
that when I am asked 'Is any feeling coming up?' I feel this feeling
more. The Tribe together continue to say 'Is anything coming up?' as I
go through my forms. Some time later, I am asked a question by a Tribe
member (I can't remember what) and I recall a childhood memory.
I am at school in a lesson and I am looking at a girl I have a crush on. When she is 'put on the spot' by a teacher, her face goes bright red.
I notice this and from that point on my face mirrors hers; it goes
bright red and hot whenever she is put on the spot, moreover, when I am
also put on the spot this happens. I feel extremely embarrassed by
this. I curl up on my chair, put my head in my hands, and then start rubbing my face.
I go through several forms and at some point I begin to smile and feel
joy. I no longer feel embarrassed and I find this childhood memory
quite amusing.
I am asked by the process manager 'is anything coming up?' and I notice
a hard ball at the bottom of my esophagus. It's just sat there, unable
to move. All Tribe members join in the chant and still the ball just
sits there. I begin to whack it with my hand and I experience more joy
and complete amazement at how this happened.
This is probably one of the coolest things I have ever experienced!
The rest of the Tribe meeting goes really well. I experience just as
much joy receiving other tribe members on their hot seat as I did on
mine. The whole experience seems like a 'win win' for everyone. This
feels like a really positive step and I look forward to further Tribe
meetings.
Thanks,

Fear of Trading
Dear Ed,
Thank you for writing The Trading Tribe.
I am have trading intermittently since 2010 until now. I have always
lost money. Many times, I traded for a while, made some money, lost
more than I made and then stopped for a while.
I think I haven't found the right system. I am so afraid to lose more money that I can't trade anymore. I keep looking at the market from time to time, but if I find some excuse to do something else I take it.
My legs are shaking and I feel some tightening inside my body in the area between my genitals and my belly button.
I'd grateful if you could provide me with any insight on how to go beyond this.
With gratitude,
|

Compelling, Addicting,
Dull and Pointless
Hi Ed,
I found out about you while I read through Market Wizards a few months
ago (something that had been sitting on my shelf for a while in
college). I found your mentality and overall attitude very interesting.
Obviously you are very busy but I wanted to ask you if you were a 24
year old who found the market compelling
and addicting in all of its possibilities, how would you frame a
path forward?
I didn't get into trading straight out of college since it went against
advice of the times where computers are supposed to take over human
judgement, and some professors had ingrained the importance of
financial modeling (aka value investing) over market timing.
Now two years out, I find myself getting pulled into the market. I work
in the Silicon Valley but my day time
job seems dull and pointless compared to the progress I have
made in trading.
I would love to have your view on my thoughts above if I wanted to
become more involved in trading. Reading through your story, it seemed
like you had the privilege of being caught in midst of major evolution
in trading or rather was at the forefront.
I know my question is super open ended and you don't have any data
points about myself. I thought I would shoot over an email and see what
happens :) Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Shift
Greetings Ed,
Would like to share with you what I am going through to get to
the next level as a human and trader.
In 2009 I felt I should create a email called paradigm shift. Only to be
used for my wife and children. To this day only my family uses it.
On Aug. 28 2015 I felt a SHIFT was taking place and wrote it my
trading journal.
On Sept. 11 2015 the night before going home to visit my parents my
wife looks at me and says she believe a SHIFT is going to be taking
place. I told her that is the same word I got on Aug. 28th
On Oct. 16 2015 I was attending a conference and before it started I
was by myself meditating and a man comes up to me and says he believes
he was to give me a book. I say thank you for the book and go back to
meditating. As the conference is about to start I look at the book the
man gives me and it is called The Shift. I thought OK something
regarding a SHIFT is about to take place.
On Nov. 22 2015 I felt lead to read the book the man gave me by Nov.
26th.
On Nov. 27th I went to a business meeting and on the way home after the
meeting I sensed I should go the restaurant some of the business men
went to after the meeting. I have never been to the restaurant as I go
home and begin to trade for the day. Well, I turned around even though
I way over half way home and went to the restaurant. When I got there a
table of about 20 people was taken with no empty seats for me to sit.
With that I sat with on a table with another man who did all the
talking. When the 20 got up to leave a man of about 76 years of age
comes up to me and introduces himself to me. As I was walking out with
this man I ask him what is on his heart at this time. He looks at me
and starts to weep and goes on to tell a SHIFT is going to be taking
place. And that he was going to speak to 8 of the richest business
owners about this SHIFT in Florida. I asked him when this SHIFT
was going to take place and he said 2016.
I felt led to share this with you as I was prompted twice to share this.
One must find out what this SHIFT is for them.
Ed, if does not bear witness with you just ignore this story.

What Do You
Get
Hi Ed Seykota,
May I ask, what do you get by having this site?
Curious that is all.
I had try working with Mr. Donchian when I was at Shearson many years
ago, but was not able to meet him.
The Soy Bean market has created a higher 20 trading week low point,
entering a bull market move at these price levels to note, charts
inserted.
Also, inserted are charts of a JPY model I am running since 03302015,
you will see the daily equity balance and 2 other charts one the build
of lot size towards market behavior and the the actual daily closing
price of the JPY market.
A JPY Margin daily chart is inserted stating daily margin for the build
in the positioning.
I use a set fixed ratio towards adding/subtracting size towards closing
price. I see the next run in JPY will be created by a higher
20 trading week low point for a major move higher nearing the 120 level.
I see spike 1 or wave 1 ending this last June/2016
Thanks and have a great day,
|
Thank
you for raising these issues.
What I get by having this site: visitors.
Since receiving your analytics on the bean bull market, I see prices
off by about 30 cents per bushel.
In
the case you have a long position in your bull market, you might also
consider employing some kind of sell protection - in case the move does
not materialize according to your plan.
Back in the day, pit traders signal intention to sell by showing an
open palm to prospective buyers.
