Profitable Short-Term Trading
Ed,
Happy New Year!
I hope 2018 was a great year for you and your family.
Let
me know if you can stop by Orlando sometime we have a extra house you
can stay in and I will show you some records of my 20 years of profits
from short term trading :).
Otherwise would enjoy seeing you at a workshop or another way.
|
Thank you for your offer.
I have never seen a profitable short-term trading system and would like to see such a thing and learn more about it.
By profitable short-term system, I mean:
1. It expresses as computer code and operates without any human intervention.
2. The computer signals match up with the actual executions, per a customer monthly brokerage statement.
3. The system trades at least once per day.
4. The system has a positive MAR for some contiguous set of 12 months.
5.
The system does not collect fees or commissions from exchanges in
order to provide liquidity or provide the appearance of liquidity.
6. A home trader could profitably operate a similar system.

Book Review
Hi Ed,
Thanks again for your consideration to read and provide a testimonial for my book.
I’m truly grateful for your kind gesture regardless of your final decision.
I’ve just sent you the link to download an advance review copy of it.
Should
you find this book worthy of a positive review, I appreciate if you can
let me know your thoughts by 6 January 2019 (Sunday).
Time
is pretty tight as we need some time to insert your review into the
book ahead of the actual launch publication during the 3rd week of
January.
However, if you really need more time, feel free to let me know too.
I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Cheers,
|
Thank you for asking me to review your book.
You may not copy, edit or republish this material in any form in your book or elsewhere.
You may express links to this FAQ page so others may view it in its entirety.
This review does not imply any kind of endorsement either in favor or against your book.
In
general, your book interviews a number of trading mentors. It
does not describe any trading systems. It does not provide any hard
evidence, such as back testing, to verify any of the "systems" it
mentions. It does not show actual track records for the mentors and it
does not show track records for any of their students.
Nor
does it speak to the real skill of the trading mentors: namely,
attracting dopamine-seeking traders and feeding their addictions with a
mixture of hope and encouragement.
More specifically:
Page 11 - seems self-serving and devoid of any useful information.
Page
17 - "For the small price that you are paying to own, read,
and re-read this book that contains more than a century worth of combined trading wisdom, I say you have nothing to lose in this trade."
Ed: Steering traders toward day trading can harm them.
Page
19 - "The best trading mentor is usually a humble and down-to-earth
person. He (or she) does not proclaim to know everything about trading
or expect you to blindly follow his strategy and instructions every
step of the way. ... As such, none of the speakers would have been
able to prepare for any of my questions ahead of the interview. I
believe that a competent trading mentor should be able to answer my
questions and explain his thoughts coherently in an instant."
Ed: Compare the above with ...
Page
26 - Due to [Trading Coach]'s hectic traveling schedule, I was not able
to conduct a one-on-one interview with him personally. However, he offered to record a video presentation.

Seeking New York Tribe
Hello Sir,
I
have emailed the Trading Tribe members of New York Area with the email
address provided in your website but didn't get a reply yet.
Are the tribes still running. I wished to join one. Thanks,
|
Thank you for telling me about the stale information on my site.
Tribes
actually work pretty well - and when they do, Tribe Members get the
message, dissolve their problems, dissolve the Tribe and move on.
Occasionally, a Tribe lasts for quite a while, particularly the ones that morph TTP into a recreational drug.
I
generally run the Austin Tribe as a 10-session series - maybe once or
twice per year - with different Tribe Members. This motivates Tribe
Members to do the work quickly and move on.
It also purges the group of "professional dependents" who want to hook up with Saviors and then invalidate them.
I plan to implement a process for periodically re-certifying the Tribes that appear in the directory.
Also, you can start your own Tribe. See Resources / Join a Tribe for more information.

Thank you for sending me the link.
Past performance actually does indicate continuing performance pretty well - and serves the society as a way to select leaders.
Following past performance, in an artificially random environment, demonstrates the power of instinct over reason.

Hello!
Please check your site http://www.seykota.com/tribe/ FAQ/2006_Mar/11/index.htm
You are linking to ‘new horizons for learning,’ which has been taken over by a payday loan spammer.
You should delete this link as you’re sending your visitors to a fake payday loan site.

Wants to Chat
Hey Ed,
I'm reading the book 'Market Wizards', and listening to what you say about the markets is so unique. I want to hear more.
I am a student at the [University] and I am a member of the student run investment group here.
We
manage $1.5 million in a long only U.S. equity fund. I am trying to
find what I want. I think you could help me... I'd love to talk to you
on the phone some time and ask about the trading world.
Thank you for your time.
-- Sincerely,
|
Thank you for your invitation to chat.

Crossroads
Hello Mr. Seykota,
I am at a crossroads in my life and wanted to get in touch with you (for reasons explained below).
I
live in Reno, NV and am turning 31 in January. I've been working as a
trader and analyst at [Firm] since 2014. ... I personally manage a $5
billion portfolio made up of short-term US government and corporate
credit securities.
Managing money and trading have been
goals of mine since I graduated from college in 2011. However, when I
think back, I realize that I never really thought about what these
activities meant. I knew I was interested in markets and math and the
prospect of combining the two to make a living was very exciting to
me.
My current role, while interesting, is not as
engaging as I'd hoped. The last few years have brought along a feeling
of stagnation. Some major part of myself is not being satiated. Perhaps
it is natural to want change, but I had always imagined myself digging
deeper into the mysteries of the world and expanding my mind trough
deeper study of math, culture, and music.
I am writing to
you because I felt inspired by your interview with Jack Schwager. I
identify with your approach to markets and the world. The idea of
catching trends is something that resonates with me. Perhaps its
because my father, my biggest mentor, studied zen buddhism for several
years when he was younger.
Reading your interview helped
me reflect on where I am right now and where I want to go. I am still
figuring out the details but can feel a new current pulling me. I feel
this may be my call for adventure- a new beginning.
I
don't have any specific questions for you. I realize that you have many
people asking for your mentorship and advice. Perhaps something in my
story will resonate with you and you'll find an interest in
corresponding or having a conversation some time. If that is the case,
I would be grateful for your time.
Regards,
|
Thank you for reaching out to me.
In
my book, Govopoly, I show how we might come to to expect a natural
decline in personal freedom - and associating feelings of personal
stagnation.
If you have some or another issue you would like to explore, let me know.

Positive Intention of Anger
Ed:
Let me know when you do Workshop again.
Also,
I notice that TT FAQ has stop updating since April. I hope everything
is good at your end. Do you still answer those ? A while ago you had a
picture in TT FAQ a circle like thing which, which had feelings listed
in the middle and their positive intentions listed towards periphery.
If you have that, could you remind me positive intention of
experiencing extreme anger ?
Regards,
|
Thank you for checking up on me.
Anger
generally has to do with boundary management. You might think of
an angry dog, barking in the yard to ward off intruders.
People who don't embrace anger tend to attract invaders and have boundary issues.
